Rev Joseph Chasey's car (mother's father) - the note on the back from my mother says that on this day the car was sold to a Mr Layton - presumably this is me. I think there used to be a story that Rev Chasey had been given some shares in AT&T (Bell Telephone) by a parishioner who Rev Chasey had gotten to give up drink. But didn't Rev Chasey feel the need to help his flock through the depression? Anyway, I can't complain because I was left $5000 in 'pop pop's' will and this allowed me to escape to GB and paid for my graduate education. And, yes, a bit of wine, women, song, weed and LSD. The considerable sums of money inherited by Rev Chasey's two offspring (my mother and her sister) mostly just caused grief as it over shadowed the income of their respective, hardworking, working-class husbands.
